Kandor ID, LLC ("Kandor," "we," "us," or "our") provides a verified identity platform at kandor.id and any affiliated applications, features, and services that link to these Terms (collectively, the "Services").
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Services. Our Privacy Policy, incorporated here by reference, describes how we collect and use your information.
By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
IEligibility
To use the Services, you must be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is older, and not prohibited from doing so by applicable law. The Services are for your personal, non-commercial use unless you have entered into a separate written agreement with us.
You may not use the Services if we have terminated your account, suspended you for violations of these Terms, or if you are attempting to circumvent an integrity flag or re-registration block associated with a prior account.
IIYour Kandor ID Account
2.1Account Creation and Identity Verification
To create an account, you must provide accurate personal information and complete identity verification through our third-party verification partner, Stripe Identity. This process requires you to submit a government-issued identification document and complete a biometric face match.
Stripe Identity acts as our data processor for identity verification. Sensitive identification documents are processed and stored by Stripe in accordance with its own privacy and security practices. Kandor receives only verification confirmation and limited verified attributes (such as your legal name, date of birth, and verification status). We do not retain copies of your identification documents.
Upon successful verification, you receive a Kandor ID — a unique, lifetime identifier associated with your verified identity.
2.2Account Responsibilities
You agree that the information you provide through your account is accurate and that you will keep it accurate and up-to-date. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and are accountable for all activities that occur through your account. Kandor disclaims any liability for third-party actions taken via your account. You must notify us immediately at support@kandor.id if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.
2.3One Account Per Person
Each verified person may hold only one active Kandor ID. Creating multiple accounts, creating an account under a false identity, or attempting to impersonate another person is a material violation of these Terms and may result in immediate termination and a permanent integrity flag visible on any future account associated with your verified identity.
2.4Communications
By creating an account, you agree to receive communications from Kandor related to the Services. These include transactional communications (such as verification confirmations, reference request notifications, settlement window alerts, and share link activity) and, if you opt in, product updates and marketing communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the link provided in those emails. You cannot unsubscribe from transactional communications essential to the operation of your account.
IIIThe Permanence Doctrine
Kandor is built on a principle of permanent, accountable attribution. You should understand what this means before creating an account.
3.1References Are Public and Permanent While Active
When you submit a reference about another Kandor member, or when another member submits a reference about you, that reference is publicly visible on the subject's profile. It is tied to your verified identity and, while active, is permanent. You may withdraw a reference you have written at any time. Withdrawal is silent — no public notification is given, and the reference is removed from the subject's profile. Once withdrawn, a reference cannot be restored.
3.2Unfavorable References and the Settlement Window
Unfavorable references enter a 30-day settlement window before publication. During this window:
- The subject of the reference is notified that an unfavorable reference has been submitted.
- The reference appears on the subject's profile with an UNPUBLISHED label, visible only to the subject. An "Options" menu next to the reference provides access to the full reference page.
- On the reference page, the subject may submit a formal dispute using a dispute form, stating their case for why the reference should not publish.
- Outside the platform, the subject may contact the reference provider to discuss the reference.
- The subject may use the "Resolved with provider" mechanism, which notifies the provider and requests that they withdraw the reference.
- The provider may voluntarily withdraw the reference at any time during this window, in which case it is deleted and no record remains.
- If the provider does not withdraw within 30 days, the reference publishes automatically and becomes publicly visible on the subject's profile.
After an unfavorable reference publishes, the subject may post a permanent public response below it. The response window remains open indefinitely.
3.3Account Deletion Does Not Delete Your ID Verification
If you delete your Kandor account, the following occurs:
- Your profile becomes inactive and no longer publicly viewable.
- References you have received become hidden from your former profile.
- Proof of your prior verification is retained permanently. This is limited to your verified legal name and date of birth and is used solely to prevent re-registration under the same identity. We do not retain your browsing history, messages, references, or any other behavioral data after deletion.
- If you attempt to re-register, our system will detect the match to your verified identity and either block the attempt or associate the new account with an integrity flag describing the prior deletion.
You expressly acknowledge that deletion of your account does not delete this verification proof, and you consent to this retention as a condition of using the Services.
IVContent and Conduct
4.1Your Content
"Your Content" means references, vouches, responses, profile information, and any other content you submit to the Services.
You retain ownership of Your Content. By submitting Your Content, you grant Kandor a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and make Your Content available as part of the Services for as long as the content remains active. This license terminates when you withdraw the content, except with respect to copies already distributed to third parties who have viewed it prior to withdrawal (such as hiring managers who have accessed a share link).
You are solely responsible for Your Content. You represent and warrant that Your Content is truthful to the best of your knowledge, reflects your honest professional assessment, does not violate any third party's rights, and complies with applicable laws.
4.2Reference Standards
References submitted to the Services must describe your actual professional experience with the subject. References must not:
- Contain false statements of fact about the subject.
- Be defamatory, harassing, or threatening.
- Disclose confidential information you are legally or contractually bound to protect.
- Include personal information about the subject beyond what is relevant to a professional reference (such as medical information, political affiliations, or details about the subject's personal relationships).
- Be written in exchange for payment or non-monetary consideration from the subject or any third party.
- Be written about a person with whom you have not had a genuine professional relationship.
Unfavorable references must be specific, measured, and professional. A reference that is vague, emotionally charged, or written primarily to harm the subject rather than to provide honest professional assessment may be removed at our discretion, and its submission may result in an integrity flag on your account.
4.3Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or professional history.
- Submit references in exchange for payment or other consideration.
- Submit references about someone with whom you have not had a genuine professional relationship.
- Coordinate with others to submit coordinated references (favorable or unfavorable) as part of a campaign against a particular subject.
- Use the Services to harass, threaten, or intimidate another user.
- Attempt to access another user's account or circumvent verification systems.
- Use automated tools, scrapers, or bots to access the Services.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Services.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or the servers and networks that support them.
- Attempt to re-register after account deletion in violation of our re-registration policy.
- Use the Services for any unlawful purpose.
4.4Integrity Flags
In lieu of or in addition to account bans, Kandor uses a system of integrity flags. An integrity flag is a factual stamp permanently displayed on a member's profile describing a verified violation of these Terms. Flags are not editorial — they describe what happened factually (for example: "This member submitted multiple references from duplicate accounts in January 2026").
Integrity flags are visible to all viewers of the member's profile, including future hiring managers. Flags cannot be removed by the member. We apply integrity flags only after verifying the underlying violation.
VReference Providers and Subjects
5.1Invitation-Based References (V1)
In the current version of the Services, references are invitation-based. A Kandor member ("candidate") invites another verified member ("reference provider") to submit a reference about them. The reference provider may accept or decline the invitation. If accepted, the reference enters the workflow described in Section 3.
5.2Vouches and Connections (Future)
Kandor may introduce additional features including vouches (permanent attestations of trust between two verified members) and connections (mutual-consent links between members who have worked together). Specific rules governing these features will be provided when they become available. Your use of those features will be subject to these Terms as they may be updated.
VIShare Links and Visitor Access
6.1Candidate-Controlled Share Links
Members may generate share links that provide limited, time-bound access to their profile for visitors (typically hiring managers) who do not have Kandor accounts. Share links have the following characteristics:
- Unique token URL.
- 30-day default expiration (may be revoked earlier by the candidate).
- Re-shareable by the candidate.
- Subject to access logging (view count and last-viewed timestamp).
6.2Visitor Obligations
Individuals who access a Kandor profile via a share link agree to these Terms as a condition of access. Visitors may not:
- Redistribute the share link to parties not authorized by the candidate.
- Scrape, copy, or archive profile content.
- Use the information accessed via the share link for any purpose other than evaluating the candidate.
6.3One-Hop Traversal
Visitors accessing a profile via share link may navigate to one level of linked profiles (for example, the profile of a reference provider). Further traversal from that second-level profile is restricted to prevent broad scraping of the trust network.
VIIIntellectual Property
7.1Kandor's Rights
The Services, including all software, design, logos, trademarks, and content provided by Kandor (excluding Your Content), are the property of Kandor ID, LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the Services for their intended purpose. Except as expressly permitted, you may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Services.
7.2Trademarks
"Kandor," "Kandor ID," "Fide et honore," and associated logos are trademarks of Kandor ID, LLC. You may not use these trademarks without our prior written consent.
7.3Feedback
If you submit feedback, ideas, or suggestions to Kandor, you grant us the right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.
VIIIEnforcement
8.1Content Moderation
We may, in our sole discretion, review Your Content and take action if we determine it violates these Terms. Actions may include removal of the content, application of an integrity flag, suspension of your account, termination of your account, and reporting to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where appropriate.
8.2Reporting Violations
If you believe content on the Services violates these Terms, you may report it by contacting us at support@kandor.id. We will review reports and take appropriate action at our discretion. Our decisions about content moderation are final.
8.3Legal Process
We may disclose information about users in response to valid legal process, including subpoenas, court orders, and law enforcement requests. We may also disclose information to protect the rights, property, or safety of Kandor, our users, or the public.
IXDisclaimers
Kandor does not guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, or completeness of any reference, vouch, profile information, or other content submitted by users. References reflect the opinions and experiences of the reference providers who submitted them, not Kandor. We do not independently verify the substance of reference content — we verify only the identity of the provider.
Kandor does not guarantee that the Services will meet your requirements, operate uninterrupted, be secure, or be free of errors. You use the Services at your own risk.
In accordance with Section 230 of the U.S. Communications Decency Act and similar laws in other jurisdictions, Kandor is not the publisher or speaker of user-submitted content and is not liable for claims arising from content provided by users.
XLimitation of Liability
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
XIDispute Resolution
11.1Informal Resolution
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to first contact us at support@kandor.id with a written description of your dispute. We will attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days. If we cannot resolve the dispute informally within that time, either party may proceed to arbitration as described in Section 11.2.
11.2Binding Arbitration
Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in Wilmington, Delaware, unless the parties agree otherwise. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding.
11.3Class Action Waiver
If this waiver is found unenforceable, the remainder of Section 11 shall not apply.
11.4Exceptions
The following claims are excluded from the arbitration requirement:
- Small claims court cases that qualify for small claims status.
- Claims for injunctive or equitable relief to prevent infringement of intellectual property.
- Claims brought by Kandor to enforce these Terms.
11.5Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. For claims not subject to arbitration, the parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New Castle County, Delaware.
XIITermination
You may terminate your account at any time through the account settings or by contacting us at support@kandor.id. Termination will result in the inactivation of your profile and the retention of your verification proof as described in Section 3.3.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine you have violated these Terms or for any other reason in our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature survive termination (including Sections 3.3, 4.1, 7, 9, 10, and 11) will remain in effect.
XIIIChanges to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Services at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of those Terms.
XIVMiscellaneous
14.1Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Kandor regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements.
14.2Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
14.3No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
14.4Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
